Bauhaus Painters, De Stijl and Léger
The Bauhaus, a German art school opened in 1919 and closed by Hitler, trained students in the applied arts. Influential modern painters taught there. The Dutch De Stijl group was abstract and theoretical, while the Frenchman Léger celebrated machinery in heroic, figurative style.
